The spike protein (SP) of SARS-CoV-2 has subunits that help the virus to enter and infect host cells. Individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2 having mild to moderate condition are shown to have the highest level of spike-specific IgG. Thus, by detect-ing anti-spike IgG and IgM antibodies, an adaptive response to SARS-CoV-2 may be identified from those suspected with COVID-19.
