sediMAX LITE is a professional semi-automated urine microscopy analyzer which improves accuracy, reproducibility, safety and productivity in laboratories, by producing whole field microscopic images of urine sediment and automatically classifying and counting urine sediment particles in the images.
sediMAX LITE utilizes the traditional gold standard method while eliminating the most time-consuming and operator-dependent laboratory procedures of manual microscopy. It can also serve as a backup instrument for automated sediment analyzers.
sediMAX Lite measurement process
The measurement in based on the theory of manual urine sediment analysis. A small amount of a native urine sample is manualy pipetted into a special cuvette, which is transferred from the cuvette feeder to the loading position after pressing the Start button. After loading the cuvette and pressing the Start button again, the cuvette goes into the centrifuge.
The centrifuge rotates the cuvette to creat the sediment layer at the bottom of the cuvertte. After centrifuging, the cutevtte goes to the microscope table where the autofocus procedure is performed and then the greyscale images are taken at different positions. There is focusing at each position.
The sample is illuminated with a high-power LED lens. A digital camera takes the images. After recording the images, the used cuvette is placed into the waste bin. The whole process is controlled by the built-ion computer, which also performs image processing.
The image processing (particle search and identification) is performed in parallel with the measurements.
